What is BTEC Science?

Units in the Extended Certificate cover aspects of Biology, Chemistry and Physics, which will be essential for full understanding of the additional units. Other units cover a wide range of practical methods and skills such as analysis of forensic evidence, interpretation of data. Appropriate learning resources will be provided for all units of which the majority will be completed by guided independent study.

This course provides opportunities for learners to focus on the development of the major key skills of recall and understanding and importantly applying the scientific knowledge and the wider key skills, such as improving their own learning, time management and working with others.

These personal qualities and attributes are essential for successful performance on the course and in the work environment. The Extended Diploma Applied Science has a unit on Forensic Science which may open up opportunities in specific scientific HE courses e.g. Forensic Science and Criminology.

Units in the Extended Certificate cover aspects of Biology, Chemistry and Physics, which will be essential for full understanding of the additional units.
